Rayola to Host Its First-Ever Quilt Show, Calling for Quilt Submissions!

Mark your calendars! Rayola is excited to announce its very first quilt show, taking place on Saturday, April 17, 2027, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Surline Elementary School.

While Rayola has partnered with other organizations on quilt show fundraisers in the past, this will be the first time we have hosted an event of our own. We're thrilled to bring together quilters, volunteers, and community members for a day that celebrates both the artistry of quilting and the incredible difference these quilts make in the lives of children.

Every quilt displayed at the show has a purpose. After the event, the quilts will be donated to Rayola and included in care packages for local children entering foster care. For many children, these quilts become one of the few belongings they can truly call their own—a source of comfort, security, and belonging during an uncertain time.

Visitors will have the opportunity to admire beautiful handmade quilts, meet fellow quilting enthusiasts, and support Rayola's mission of serving children in foster care. Admission is $10 per person, with all proceeds helping Rayola continue providing comfort items to children throughout Northern Michigan.

The day will feature much more than quilts. Guests can enjoy door prizes, purchase raffle tickets for exciting giveaways, and browse a selection of food and treats available throughout the event. It will be a wonderful opportunity to gather with friends, celebrate the quilting community, and make a meaningful impact for local children.

One of the highlights of the show will be the People's Choice voting. Every attendee will have the chance to vote for their favorite quilt in five categories:

  • Juvenile Boy

  • Teen Boy

  • Juvenile Girl

  • Teen Girl

  • Best Overall

Winning quilters in each category will receive a prize and the recognition of their fellow attendees. Whether you're an experienced quilter or creating your very first donation quilt, we encourage you to participate. Every entry helps ensure another child receives a handmade quilt filled with love and care.

If you're interested in entering a quilt, now is the perfect time to start sewing. Quilts should be approximately 60 by 80 inches (twin size) and will be donated to Rayola following the event. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on a child who needs comfort most.

This inaugural quilt show represents an exciting new tradition for Rayola. We hope it becomes an annual event that brings together talented makers, compassionate supporters, and families from across the region to celebrate the power of handmade kindness.

Ticket pre-sales will begin in early 2027, with additional event details announced in the coming months. We hope you'll join us for this special day of community, creativity, and compassion as we celebrate the quilts—and the children—they were made to serve.
